With major elections in the U.S., an evolving series of regulatory changes in Canada and the Province of Ontario, as well as major rate cases currently underway, this is one session you will not want to miss! The regulatory environment can mean major shifts in policy, planning and projects that will affect the natural gas business both today and in the future. This session covers both the big picture national and trans-boundary issues, as well as exploring the in-depth regulatory framework currently in development for the Ontario Province.
Moderator:
Mr. Tony Wheeler, Head of Engineering & Procurement, Lanxess Corporation
The supply side of natural gas has been well explored and remains a driving force in project development and pricing for the near term. The bigger story is the rapidly growing demand curve from both traditional and new sources for natural gas and NGLs. This session gives you the roadmaps for the intermediate and long term supply and demand forecasts so that you can make the vital decisions to be on the winning side of the deal. With the major shifts in power generation fuels from coal to nat gas, increased NGV activity and a multi-billion dollar renaissance for fertilizer, manufacturing and petrochemicals business in North America, the stakes are high and you need to attend this session to make sure you have all the latest information on the supply and demand outlook.
Moderator:
Mr. Alan Arneill, VP, Canadian Origination, Repsol Energy Canada
Speakers:
Mr. Scott C. Speaker, Vice President of Commercial and Business Development, Laser Midstream Company LLC
Dawn Constantin’s keynote will address the key drivers behind supply & demand, and what it means for future prices. The paradigm shift in North American resource development has changed hydrocarbon flows around the world. The keynote will reinforce that there are many variables driving eastern gas prices, including oil drilling, pipeline tariffs, politics, new policies, etc. In the end, having robust risk management plans will be the key.
Traditional pipeline routes, gas flow and storage needs have been turned on their head in the vibrant shale era. New projects are changing the marketplace rapidly and you need to hear the latest and greatest on which projects are moving forward, being planned and when they will be open for business. Listen to the latest scoop directly from the key players who are developing the new flows for gas, including the possible export projects which will change pricing forever in North America.
Moderator:
Mr. Ian B. Macpherson, Director, Distribution In-Franchise Sales, Enbridge Gas Distribution
Mr. Butters will discuss the increasingly important role of gas-fired generation in Ontario, and speak to some of the critical issues of concern to gas-fired generators, including natural gas transportation and distribution matters, system operation and electricity markets, as well as other important public policy and political issues affecting the Ontario power sector.
Speaker:
Mr. David Butters, Executive Director, APPrO - Association of Power Producers of Ontario
The switching from coal to natural gas in the power generation markets is not only an Ontario provincial story, but an epic tale of major fuel switching throughout North America’s power fleet. The pace of this switch has been historic and this session explores how many additional plants will be switching in the Canadian and U.S. markets, as well as the forecast for new generation exclusively dedicated to natural gas as their primary fuel. Will the pace of switching remain unabated? Can the election in the US prolong the use of coal for that market? At what price does the fuel switching slow or reverse?
This session exclusively delivers the most up to date intelligence on the largest market for natural gas in the industrial sector.
Moderator:
Mr. Jim Eddy, General Manager, Energy, Vale Canada Ltd.
Speakers:
Mr. George Pessione, Director, Resource Integration - Power System Planning, Ontario Power Authority
The successful development of U.S. shale resources is changing the landscape of the natural gas industry in Canada. While producers in Canada are asking the question, to drill or not to drill, the influx of Shale Gas is flooding the Canadian market. What is in store for the next 3 – 5 years or even for the next 10 years in Canada and will the prospect of LNG exports help the demand for natural gas get back in “balance” for Canada? Hear what the experts have to say.

- Looking ahead at the coming years and decades, based on overall climate cycles.
Reduced to just 34 seats in the 2011 federal election, the Liberal Party of Canada under its new leader, Justin Trudeau, secured a stunning 184 seat majority in the election held on October 19, 2015. The next four years of Liberal government will see a major shift in both policy development and direction, notably with respect to energy. Political consultant and strategist Charles Bird will provide an overview of the 2015 federal election, recent developments at the provincial level, and an analysis of what these developments mean for energy stakeholders.
Our gas buyer panelists will give you valuable insight into what is currently working, what they have learned, and what they will do differently next time. Discussion questions to include:
1. Are customers switching to natural gas from alternate fuels, or to alternate fuels from natural
gas?
2. How did the adverse weather and curtailments affect your purchasing strategies?
- How will this winter impact your purchasing going forward?
- Do you plan on using more or less long-term supply contracts vs. long-term
hedging agreements? Will they start to make a comeback after this winter?
3. How do the increasing shale supplies affect your gas purchasing and contracting
practices?
- Did shale help to mitigate what might have been an even more volatile winter
season?
- Is the new transport enough to meet the new demands of the province?
4. With the increase in renewable generation, how is that impacting your company?
5. Will we see LNG exports from North America?
6. Have you seen an impact from new natural gas demand for vehicle fueling (CNG/ propane)?
7. Given the current state of storage inventory, have you adjusted your storage-injection plan? Do
you think the industry will fill storage to levels required for the next heating season?
8. How predictable is your gas consumption?
9. What factors, other than price, influence your decision to choose one supplier over another?

Remembrance Day, known as Veterans Day in the United States, is a day set aside to commemorate and
honor members of the armed forces. It marks the date and time when armies stopped fighting World War I
on November 11th at 11am in 1918 (the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month).
In Canada, people wear poppies on Remembrance Day to show their respect and support for Canadian
troops. Poppies are generally handed out free but often a voluntary donation is given in exchange.
Please take a moment of silence in honor of the current and fallen military across the world.
