10:30 AM | Panel: Perspectives on Energy Policies under Mexico's First Woman President - What is next for the Mexican Energy Market? New Opportunities and New Challenges
Click here for details. With the arrival of Claudia Sheinbaum as the new President of Mexico, the natural gas market faces questions and a number challenging issues including:
-Will upcoming constitutional reforms be endorsed by President Sheinbaum, including those that could eliminate the autonomous regulatory bodies, including the CRE?
-What is President Sheinbaum's energy policy, and how will it differ from that of her predecessor?
-What progress will be made on energy transition initiatives, including deployment of Combined Cycle power generation to back up intermittent energy sources including wind and solar?
-Will there be market design adjustments so that all power generators share in the costs of ensuring electric grid reliability?
This panel of distinguished industry experts will share insights and considerations around these issues, as well as expectations for how the market will evolve.

4:00 PM | Panel: Considerations in Designing and Permitting New Natural Gas Infrastructure to Serve Growing Domestic Requirements in the Southwest US and Northwest Mexico
Click here for details.Given trends in supply chain near-shoring and Arizona expanding its position as a major data center hub powering the AI revolution, the expected growth in power generation is far beyond prior expectations and for some utilities will almost double their load over the next decade. Utilities on both sides of the border are revisiting their natural gas requirements to continue to provide reliable service to both existing and new customers. Except for a minor expansion on El Paso Natural Gas Pipeline's southern leg associated with Sempra Infrastructuring contracting transportation capacity for ECA LNG Phase 1, this region has not seen significant new gas supply infrastructure for nearly two decades. Beyond these loads, CFE continues to add gas fired generation in Baja, California and when ECA LNG comes into service in late 2025 it will redirect over 0.4Bcfd from existing markets to new export markets. If ECA Phase 2 moves forward, it could export up to another 2Bcfd of gas supply later in the decade. Concurrently, California's gas requirements do not seem to be declining as it is struggling to eliminate its use of natural gas while maintaining a reliable supply of electricity to its current end use consumers while electrical load is expected to grow from the planned electrification of the economy.
These fundamentals make a strong case for new intersate natural gas infrastructure to increase gas supply in the Southwest US and Northwest Mexico. This panel will discuss the expectations of what state officials, local communities and end-users expectations are of such infrastructure.
